Today I want to talk to you about sales, which is a fundamental skill we all need to learn.
Sales is primarily story telling.
Therefore in my opinion, the best sales people come from countries or regions with a deep culture of story telling.
Some cultures are great at engineering, while others at the arts.
If you country produces playwrights, comedians, and poets, chances are they it also produces great sales people.
A good story begins by "setting the drama", this is the hook for drawing someone it.
A few years back, I attended a presentation by Rasmus Lerdorf, who is the creator of the PHP language.
In the first few slides, Rasmus spoke about his childhood crowing up in a remote weather station, where his father worked for the Danish Navy.
After many years I cannot remember the details of the rest of his technical presentation, but I remember vividly the photographs of that frozen landscape: that was the drama.
Human beings have been telling each other stories around the camp fire for thousands of years, and technology does no change that fundamental desire.
If you want people to remember your pitch: set the drama, tell your story, and offer some solutions towards the end.
If you cannot tell a compelling story, you will fail to sell your products or ideas.
What I am working on this week:
Alpha Framework version 4.0 with support for PHP 8.1 releasing soon (delayed).
